7 - LITERATURE: THE CELTS


The first inhabitants/population of the British Isles (islands) were the Iberians.
The Iberians inhabited the British Isles before the Celtic invasion.
The Celts appeared in Britain in about 700 B.C.
B.C. = Before Christ
A.D. = Anno Domini

What was the Celts like? their society, economy, religion?

What were they good at making? 
They were very good at making shaped metal jewellery.

The Celtic society was tribal and communally organized and its culture was pagan and animistic.
The Celts are one of the first  tribes to inhabit Britain. They worshipped natural elements as the moon, rivers and trees and they believed in immortality. In the Celtic community, we have the first doctors, judges and diviners of the future.
They believed in magical powers, in fact, they thought  they were able to control the weather.

They lived in tribes and their culture was pagan. The Celts worshipped natural elements, like air, fire, water, the moon, rivers, stones and they believed everything had a soul / all these elements had souls.
